As well as being a gateway to outdoor adventures there is lots to do in Ambleside. We have a cinema showing all the latest releases, plus art house films. There are lots of quality cafes, restaurants and bars, some with live music, and jazz most weekends at Zefferelis. We have 2 parks including lake views and a children's play area. There are regular boats travelling from Waterhead to Bowness and Lakeside, plus boats and kayaks are available for hire. You'll find tennis, pitch and putt and crazy golf at White Platts Recreation Ground. Guided walks and bike rides can be arranged locally, and bike hire is available.
Shopping includes specialist outdoor clothing and footwear, art galleries, bookshops, gift shops, rock and crystals, handmade chocolates, organic wines, Hayes Garden World which stocks unusual plants, plus much more.
All of these are within a short walking distance from Ambleside Central.
